Brigitte Macron filmed threatening to ‘throw out’ any ‘stupid b*****s’ | World | News

France’s First Lady was filmed threatening to “throw out” feminist activists and calling them “stupid b****s” after they interrupted the demonstration. Brigitte Macron had made a statement to French actor Ary Abittan backstage after four actors disturbed the historical music hall Folies Bergere the previous night. Activists were chanting “Abittan rapist” after the 51-year-old man was previously accused of rape by a woman in 2021.

However, investigators dropped the case in 2023 due to lack of evidence. Footage taken by the French magazine of the interaction between Ms Macron and Mr Abittan PeopleIt shows the actor saying “I’m scared” before his performance. In response, Ms Macron said: “If there are stupid b****s, we will throw them out. Especially the masked thugs.”

Mr. Avittan replied: “That’s what I did yesterday.”

In light of the video, Ms Macron’s team said it criticized the “radical method” of the protests. “Brigitte Macron does not approve of this radical method,” a spokesman told AFP news agency on her behalf.

Protest group Nous Toutes, meaning “all of us,” turned Ms. Macron’s “sales connes” insult (which translates to “stupid bitches”) into a hashtag.

Many celebrities and public figures condemned Ms Macron’s use of the words, adopting the phrase to express solidarity with women.

Feminist figure Judith Godreche used this on Instagram when she posted: “I’m an idiot too.” She gained attention after accusing two directors of sexually abusing her when she was a minor, and has since called for an end to abusive behavior in the culture industry in France.

Marine Tondelier, leader of the French Greens, also reacted strongly to the statement used on BFMTV, describing it as “extremely serious”.

Conservative senator Agnes Evren said the comment was “extremely sexist” and former French president Francois Hollande told RTL on Tuesday: “When it comes to women fighting against violence against women, we do not talk that way.”

Mr Abittan is currently on his first tour since the rape case against him was dropped. Justice officials concluded that they could not find sufficient grounds to determine that the sexual intercourse was forcible.

The actor said the interaction was consensual and denied any wrongdoing.
