The event, which celebrates or rejects the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was held to replicate the annual turkey pardon held at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, takes its name from the current slang trend of teenagers shouting “six-seven” for no apparent reason, inspired by the lyrics of a rap song. Six Seven pigs will now spend their days in a rural sanctuary “away from coals and frying pans,” according to the event’s official press release.
