“He knew this was something the world needed to hear, and so did God,” Erika Kirk said. “And she put it on her heart and Charlie wrote it down, and I know it’s going to change and impact millions of lives.”
Charlie Kirk regularly advocated honoring the Sabbath by working six days and resting on the seventh, and encouraged his followers to adopt this practice.
“HE [Sabbath] “It’s a day where you go to be with God, it’s a day where you read your Bible and you get away from the busyness and the hustle and the anger and the noise of this world,” Charlie Kirk said in June.
Erika Kirk recognized her late husband as a “bridge builder” who knew that Shabbat transcended politics, age and demographics, and said the practice bridged “generational gaps.”
Kirk shared how his family honors the Sabbath by unplugging from technology and getting together with family.
“HE [Charlie] He was just able to reset, recalibrate and say, ‘You know what? The noise of this world can wait 24 hours. I can come back to this when I have a fresh brain and rest,’ Kirk said.

The 37-year-old mother of two shared that her family rarely uses screens, but makes exceptions for a few special programs.
“We are not a family that spends screen time with their children,” Erika Kirk said. “I joke that we always watch Charlie’s show and then watch Bob Ross for the sleep-inducing moments, but…screens, that’s not where our interaction is.”
“The Five” co-host Dana Perino quoted a line from Charlie Kirk’s book: “The Sabbath is not a burden to bear, but a blessing to embrace.” He asked Erika Kirk for her advice for those who feel like they don’t have time for Shabbat.
