Perth’s top 10 Christmas lights displays in 2025 and where to find them

While many people choose to shut down and relax during the festive season, others wait patiently to turn on their extravagant Christmas home light displays as they bring joy to their Perth neighbourhoods.
To buy time while hunting them down, brothers Lachlan and Chris Kennedy quietly build their home for free. Christmas Light Search Database of residential exhibitions featuring the most spectacular in every major city since 2008.
They are now receiving up to 3000 applications from homeowners across Australia hoping to spread the word about their sparkly spectacles.
Lachlan told PerthNow that the proliferation of home displays over the years has been driven by a greater number of festive light and decoration retailers, leading to fewer barriers for hobbyists and a wider variety of displays.
“When we started, the displays mostly consisted of multiple strings of lights arranged creatively around the house and garden. These days the exhibits are much more varied and diverse,” Lachlan said.
Since he and his brother began making their lists and checking them twice, Lachlan has seen a greater trend towards light projections and animations, TV characters and pop culture references, smoke and laser machines, as well as a focus on interactivity.
So how do they rate the “best” displays?
“Each application is reviewed individually. We rate each location individually from 1 to 5 stars to help us separate ‘good from great’,” Lachlan explained.
“But there is no surefire way to stand out or become a top-rated exhibit.”
Top-rated homes typically showcase unique themes or cultural touchpoints, offer photo opportunities, are creatively thought out, offer visually stunning views, or are too large in size to ignore, he said.
