From Congress to Hollywood, Texans are pushing back on the U.S. Senate opening of Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who faces scrutiny for her far-left policies and social media presence.
Crockett, a progressive known for viral social media clashes and sharp speeches on the House floor, announced his Senate candidacy on Monday. He framed his candidacy as an effort to stand up to President Donald Trump and said incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn would not do so.
“I stopped watching the American dream on life support while Trump was trying to pull the plug. The gloves are off and now I’m jumping in the ring,” he said.

Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, responded to the announcement Tuesday, setting the record straight on policing and border protection.
“Texans want someone to represent them, to defend law and order, and that’s definitely not Jasmine Crockett,” Gill said on “Hannity.” “If Texans support anything, it’s law and order. And listen, this is probably the most pro-crime candidate Democrats could find.”

The congressman touched on Crockett’s past support for the movement to defund the police, adding that Crockett “has put on the record that just because you committed a crime doesn’t mean you’re guilty.”
“This is someone who has put on record that it is not a crime for someone to cross our border illegally,” Gill said.

Gill also warned that the Democrat was misreading state politics.
“Remember, Texas is a state that President Trump won by 14 points,” he said. “He says he doesn’t need Trump voters to win this. Yes, he does.”

But the backlash against Crockett isn’t limited to Capitol Hill.
Actor Zachary Levi “Gutfeld!” “I live in Texas, I love Texas, and I really don’t want him to represent Texas,” he said on his show. Tuesday.
“Shazam!” star called out Crockett’s social media habits.
“I think a lot of people dig themselves into a big hole because they think they’re taking advantage of social media, but they still come up with really weird stuff,” Levi said. “And I think a lot of people who might otherwise support him are cringing because of that.”

Levi suggested that his involvement in viral TikTok trends won’t last long.
“And more than that, as a politician, you need to be a responsible adult in the room. You need to do more valuable things for your constituents,” he added.
