Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Wednesday and will force the House to vote on the measures this week.

Green privileged his decision to impeach Trump on Wednesday; This means the House must vote on the issue within two legislative days. Green has introduced articles of impeachment against Trump at least five times this year but has not previously attempted to force a vote on the issue.

Green’s impeachment filing accuses Trump of “calling for the execution of six Democratic lawmakers” and threatening violence against judges. The first refers to Trump’s reaction after Democratic lawmakers called on members of the military to “reject illegal orders.”

“President Trump is an abuser of presidential power who, if he remains in office, will continue to incite violence, incite hatred, undermine our democracy, and dismantle our Republic,” Green said in a statement.

Green has repeatedly failed to rally support among Democrats to impeach Trump. House Democrats voted in June to end the Greens’ impeachment effort, which was based on Trump ordering airstrikes on Iran.

But Trump is not the only member of his administration facing impeachment efforts. House Democrats also voted this week on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and they also filed articles against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., announced her move against Kennedy on Wednesday, arguing that he had failed in his role. Stevens had previously promised to submit the papers in September.

Meanwhile, Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., took aim at Hegseth, pointing out that Hegseth gave orders to “kill everyone” on a small ship allegedly involved in drug smuggling.

“Pete Hegseth is using the US military to extrajudicially assassinate people without any evidence of guilt,” Thanedar said. “Former military lawyers have come forward and argued that his conduct constitutes a war crime. We cannot allow his reprehensible behavior to continue, which is why I have filed these articles to impeach him.”
