Telangana To Move SC Against AP’s Polavaram–Nallamallasagar Project
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to approach the Supreme Court against the Andhra Pradesh government’s Polavaram-Nallamallasagar irrigation project and appointed senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi to represent the state.
This development comes amid Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s push to expedite major irrigation and development proposals. At a review meeting on irrigation and Purvodaya-related initiatives on Tuesday, the Chief Minister directed officials to quickly prepare project proposals aimed at utilizing the funds expected for integrated development of the three districts of the state under the Purvodaya Scheme.
Naidu emphasized that funds should be strategically directed towards irrigation projects, expansion of horticultural crops and improvement of rural infrastructure, including road connectivity. He also directed the administration to develop 82 horticulture clusters in Prakasam district and Rayalaseema region with the ambitious target of expanding horticulture cultivation to 20 lakh acres.
