Minneapolis whites show apathy toward Somali community fraud scandal

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – The mother is white, in her 30s, and works in technology, as many people in Minneapolis do. I spoke to him on the Skyway because it was cold as the planet Hoth outside, and he gave a moving answer when I asked about the massive fraud scandal involving the Somali community.
“It’s hard to care when ICE is destroying Somalis on the streets,” he said.
He was actually pretty chatty compared to most people I talked to or tried to talk to about this topic. The vast majority remain silent when the issue is mentioned. Many faces took on expressions that seemed to say, “we’re not talking about this.”
Trump Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced at the beginning of the month that he was launching an investigation into the “bungled mismanagement” of Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and enabling what U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Daniel Rosen called “the largest Covid-19 fraud scheme in the country.” (Michael Dorgan/Fox News Digital; Scott Olson/Getty Images)
While a handful of Minnesotans I met expressed genuine disappointment that the Somalia-affiliated Feeding Our Future was funneling millions of dollars into the government, they were by far the minority. Interestingly, the only person I met who was directly critical of Somali society was Hispanic.
DAVID MARCUS: SOMALIA’S POWER INCREASE REVEALS THE QUESTION MINNESOTA MISSED – WHERE IS THE ASSIMILATION?
Jack was a good example of this attitude from the White population. A software engineer and a late millennial, he said: “A lot of people commit fraud, so why [Somalis] Exclusion?” He would eventually add: “I don’t even really know what assimilation means.”
This attitude, a mixture of white guilt and indifference, was also evident in Cedar-Riverside, the center of the Somali community. The words “We Love Our Somali Neighbors” on the faces of the few remaining non-Somali businesses blasted the marquess at the Cedar Arts Center.

A block away, another pro-immigration sign was in the window of a hot dog shop called the Weinery. It was reminiscent of 2020, when stores hung Black Lives Matter signs like lamb’s blood on lintels to protect themselves from rioters.
DAVID MARCUS: MINNESOTA’S VERY LEGAL WEED STINK OF DEI, CORRUPTION AND TIM WALZ
There is a scene in Woody Allen’s movie “Annie Hall” where his parents argue because the maid stole. His father says: “He’s a [Black] Who’s a woman from Harlem going to steal from, if not from us?” That’s how Minneapolis’ white population seems to be approaching the fraud scandal, even as the taxpayer bill tops $1 billion.
And this goes beyond just the current COVID money scandal. The state’s legalized marijuana program is also in shambles due to wokeness and DEI; There is so much emphasis on holding the marginalized, or “private equity applicants” in state parlance, accountable that the entire system is broken and arguably corrupt.
The local news media is also fueled by white guilt, to the extent you can call it that; 90% of its coverage takes a negative view of ICE enforcement, and 10% offers some sort of “Attack on the Republicans” apology over the fraud scandal.
EXPERT REVEALS THE MAIN FACTOR THAT LEAD TO MAJOR FRAUD PROJECT IN MINNESOTA
You almost have to hand it to the Democrats, or the Democratic Farm-Labor Party in Minnesota, to realize that they can get away with almost anything as long as they claim to be the protectors of the oppressed Somali community.
The most surprising part of this trick is that while liberals try to convince us that the Somali people are victims of racism, I did not encounter any racism. In fact, I saw the exact opposite; In the eyes of white voters in Minnesota, Somalis have an almost protected status.

It is also worth noting that, as in many mid-sized American cities, downtown residents feel impervious to corruption. Just as neat, tie-wearing Portlanders are happy to step over dead junkies on their way to brunch, Minnesotans aren’t feeling the impact of community-connected scams.
MINNESOTA MPS SAY NEW COLLISION AFTER $1 BILLION FRAUD COLLAPSE, THEY CALL IT A VALZ LET SPIRAL
Add to that the fact that Somali immigrants are maids, behind-the-scenes hotel workers and Uber drivers as seen in the Twin Cities. Like Woody Allen’s fictional father, people in Minneapolis are willing to turn a blind eye when the maid steals a little.
The only conclusion I can draw is that if Minnesota is going to avoid falling into full-blown corruption, voters in the rest of the state need to be the ones to move the needle. After all, as she correctly points out, the majority of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s voters are white, not Somali.

I went to Minnesota hoping to find outrage over billions of dollars stolen from children, but I found only what I found, and what I found was that corruption was viewed by the right people as an almost acceptable form of reparation.
Far from being afraid of this scandal for which they have much to blame, hapless Governor Tim Walz and Omar are riding a wave of false anger over the ocean of White guilt. It’s working for now, and it’s hard to see what could stop it.
