Modified e-bikes to be banned from trains in Victoria from next weekend

Victoria’s move follows that of NSW, which banned modified vehicles on its trains in November over fire concerns. Two states are pushing for national standards for these vehicles.
“We understand that the Commonwealth is committed to reintroducing the European standard for e-bikes in Australia,” a Victorian government spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.
“We call on the Commonwealth to accelerate this work so that states and territories have an acceptable and consistent standard in our own regulations.”
