As warnings of rising tensions between Russia and the West continue to emerge, security analysts have identified a number of places considered the safest places to live in the UK in the event of a major attack.
The assessment came after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov outlined two “red lines” that he said would lead to a military response, including the deployment of European troops to Ukraine and the seizure of Russian state assets. Although Lavrov insisted that Russia did not want conflict, he added that Moscow would retaliate if these limits were exceeded.
Lavrov said, “We have no intention of going to war with Europe. We have no such intention. However, we will respond to any hostile step.”
Russian state television also broadcast new threats following the news that a British paratrooper was killed in Ukraine.
Kremlin presenter Vladimir Solovyov told viewers that a nuclear attack on Britain was now “inevitable”, while international relations experts described the comments as an attempt to intimidate Ukraine’s allies.

Professor Anthony Glees from the University of Buckingham said Russia’s latest warnings were designed to put pressure on Europe and Britain’s ability to react was limited.
He said NATO’s absence from Ukrainian territory left any European deployment “very, very vulnerable.”
