News from UP: Varanasi ropeway is a much awaited project in Uttar Pradesh. The ropeway will extend from Varanasi station to Godaulia with intermediate stations at Vidyapeeth and Rath Yatra. Now the state government has directed that the construction work of five stations under the 3.8 km ropeway project be completed by December 31. Varanasi Development Authority Deputy Chairman Purna Borah said Godaulia is a technical station where the final phase of work is progressing rapidly, PTI reported.
Varanasi cable car: Stations, Cost
The vice president said that a total of 5 stations and 29 towers were built for the cable car and the total cost of this project was 815.58 billion Rupees, including 25 years of operation and maintenance. Borah also said that instructions were given to complete the construction work of the cable car stations before December 31 and to monitor the percentage of completion of the work. He added that completing the work in a quality manner within the stipulated time is the administration’s top priority.

The cable car is equipped with safety equipment at European standards. Commercial activities will be carried out in an area of two lakh square meters at all four stations. Borah said the cable car project will not only be an urban transportation system for Kashi, but will also open new avenues for tourism, employment and economic development.
