CBI Arrests Another Accused, Points to Inter-State Racket

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its investigation into the Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) recruitment exam scam with the arrest of another accused; This points to a widening conspiracy and possible interstate connections in the case.
According to official sources, the agency arrested Neetu Arora from outside Odisha; This suggested that the alleged manipulation of the Police SI exam was not limited to the state but involved a broader network operating across state borders. The defendant was taken into custody after preliminary evidence showed his alleged role in the recruitment racket.
With the latest arrest, the CBI is stepping up efforts to bust the network behind the vetting irregularities and identify all those involved in the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are focusing on monitoring financial transactions, identifying beneficiaries, and establishing a chain of intermediaries that facilitates manipulation of the recruitment process.
Meanwhile, the two-day detention period of middlemen Muna Mohanty and Abhimanyu Dora, who were earlier taken into CBI custody for questioning, has ended. During the custodial interrogation, authorities reportedly interrogated the duo extensively to uncover money trails, gather details about the modus operandi and identify key players involved in the scam.
As part of the same investigation, the agency also detained Srikant Prusty and Soumya Priyadarshini, the alleged masterminds of the plan. Sources said the interrogations provided important inputs on the alleged question paper leak, the role of multiple intermediaries and how candidates were reportedly influenced during the examination process.
The CBI continues to examine documents, digital records and financial transactions linked to the case. As the investigation progresses, authorities are not ruling out the possibility of additional arrests.
Police SI recruitment scam has triggered serious concerns about the integrity and transparency of competitive exams; Calls for strict action against those responsible and for stronger measures to prevent such irregularities in future recruitment processes have increased.
