Welling United v Potters Bar Town: Match postponed after manager Sammy Moore injured in altercation

Potters Bar Town told BBC Sport the match was postponed “following a serious incident involving a member of our management team”.

“The police intervened on the field and after their intervention the match could not continue,” the club added.

“Our manager is receiving the necessary medical care and the club fully supports him.

“The matter has been escalated to the relevant authorities, including the league and the FA, and we are seeking formal advice. The club will not be making any further comment at this time as this is subject to ongoing processes.

“We thank our fans for their understanding.”

BBC Sport understands the Football Association is investigating the incident.

Announcing the postponement, Welling said: “The club will have no further comment at this time.

“Further news regarding the rearranged fixtures will be announced in due course.”

BBC Sport has contacted Welling United for comment.

Isthmian League chairman Nick Robinson told BBC Sport: “The league is aware of this matter and is awaiting written reports into the alleged incident.

“We cannot comment further at this time.”

The Isthmian League is English football’s seventh division and Potters Bar Town sit at the bottom of the table, while Welling are two places up in 20th.
