There is no New Year’s Eve celebration in Paris Champs-Élysées!

The lights of the world’s major cities come on and revelers cheer in celebration on New Year’s Eve and wait for the clock to strike midnight to welcome ‘Happy New Year’. However, Paris will not participate in this celebration, and the famous Champs-Elysees will remain silent on December 31. Revelers are not allowed to crowd there and have been instructed to stay at home.

Officials will play a pre-recorded video feed, but the Arc de Triomphe will light up at midnight and people will be able to watch from home.

Why is Paris canceling its New Year’s Eve party?

Paris police canceled the live concert, which the mayor agreed to. Authorities urged city residents to watch the celebrations at home on television rather than physically joining the crowd.

The reason behind this major change is that the place has been prone to violence for some time now, as young, mostly Muslim immigrants arrive from the notorious suburbs of Paris, especially at night, to loot luxury stores, fight with Parisians and police, and other notorious activities.

The structure is iconic as it has attracted millions of merry city revelers to enjoy New Year’s Eve celebrations for nearly 60 years. According to authorities, many areas of Paris have witnessed various incidents of violence during such popular events. Police said these miscreants have been looting and damaging properties in the last two years.

Last New Year’s Eve, authorities reported that fire broke out in many vehicles and many people were arrested.
