Australian Stock Market continues to see downward trend: ASX 200 drops further as Droneshield loses momentum day after big rise; Check top gainers and losers

DroneShield Limited lost momentum on Wednesday, the day after it was among the top gainers on the ASX 200. On Tuesday, the stock closed at $2.81, up 22.17%. Over the past five days, the overall index has remained virtually unchanged but has increased by 5.22% since last year.
This comes a day after the Australian share market witnessed a decline on Tuesday 16 December 2025, with the S&P/ASX 200 closing down 36.10 points or 0.42% to 8,598.90.
ASX 200: Biggest gainers and losers
Many stocks on the S&P/ASX 200 have recorded significant gains and declines. Among the top performers, IGO Limited (IGO) led the board with a recent price of $7,690, up $0.850 or 12.426%. Liontown Limited (LTR) followed closely behind, rising $0.165, or 12.177%, to $1.520. Catalyst Metals Limited (CYL) rose $0.540, or 8.359%, to $7,000, while Deep Yellow Limited (DYL) rose $0.115, or 6.845%, to $1,795. Westgold Resources Limited (WGX) rounded out the top five, rising $0.380, or 6.506%, to $6.220.
On the downside, GrainCorp Limited (GNC) experienced the steepest decline, falling $1,250, or 14,917%, to $7,130. DroneShield Limited (DRO) fell $0.335, or 11.922%, to $2.475, followed by Austal Limited (ASB), which fell $0.760, or 11.327%, to $5,950. Treasury Wine Estates Limited (TWE) fell $0.550, or 10.019%, to $4,940, and Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (TLX) fell $0.830, or 6.609%, to $11,730.
