Nick Reiner faces murder charges

Nick Reiner’s parents will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder under special circumstances in connection with the brutal killings of famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, the Los Angeles County District Attorney said Tuesday.

Nick Reiner, 32, faces the maximum possible sentence without parole if convicted of the murders that occurred at his parents’ home.

“These are some of the most serious charges a prosecutor can bring against anyone,” prosecutor Nathan Hochman said at a news conference.

Hochman did not discuss the alleged motive for the murders. He said the weapon Nick Reiner allegedly used was a knife.

On Monday, President Donald Trump suggested, without evidence, that the couple was killed because of the “outrage” Rob Reiner created in others by opposing Trump and his policies.

Nick Reiner is being held without bail.

As a young man, he faced long-standing substance abuse problems and experienced periodic homelessness.

Hochman said the special circumstances that are part of the charges relate to the fact that the alleged crime involved multiple murders.
