Shop owner scoops £10,000 after lucky customer wins £2million on scratchcard | UK | News

A lucky Brit has won the jackpot by winning £2 million with a scratch card he bought from his local newsagent. The lucky customer paid just £5 for the Black Pearl Deluxe Scratch Card before claiming the game’s top prize of £2 million.

While the identity of the winner was not disclosed, this unexpected event also brought good luck to the store owner in North Wales.

John Evans, owner of The Paper Shop in High Street, Prestatyn, has received a £10,000 prize from National Lottery operator Allwyn thanks to its ‘Share the Win’ initiative.

This scheme aims to spread the joy of winning by accepting National Lottery retailers selling high-level winning tickets or scratchcards (worth more than £50,000).

A happy John Evans expressed his delight at the win, saying: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won. We’re a seasonal business so this is very welcome and will really help us.”

Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn’s Director of Commercial Partnerships and Retail Sales, congratulated John and his store on their huge win, saying it was an early Christmas present from Allwyn.

He added: “This initiative is about recognizing the vital role retailers play in creating life-changing moments for players, amplifying that feeling of winning and helping spread positivity in communities across the UK. All while continuing to help raise around £32 million every week for Good Causes.”, reports North Wales Live.
