Red Fort blast: NIA to grill Naseer Bilal for 7 more days; Soyab remanded to 5-day judicial custody

New Delhi: A court in Delhi on Friday ruled that the accused in the Red Fort blast case, Dr. Bilal Naseer extended Malla’s detention in NIA by seven days.

The court also remanded Soyab, a resident of Faridabad, accused of harboring Red Fort bomber Umar-un-Nabi, under five days’ judicial custody.

The investigating agency found Soyab and Bilal in the Patiala Palace Court on Friday under tight security, after expiry of the previous four-day NIA custody granted on December 15.
Members of the media were prohibited from following the hearing.

The accused were produced before Director and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna, who allowed the investigating agency to keep Naseer in custody for another seven days; Soyab was kept under judicial custody until December 24.

An official spokesperson of the NIA had earlier said that the agency arrested Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Haryana’s Faridabad district, for allegedly providing logistical support to “terrorist” Umar-un-Nabi before the terror bomb blast in Delhi.
NIA arrested Dr Naseer Bilal Malla in Delhi on December 9 and named him as one of the key accused in the conspiracy. According to NIA investigations, Naseer had knowingly harbored Umar-un-Nabi by providing logistical support to him. He is also accused of destroying evidence related to the terrorist attack, the agency said earlier on December 9.

NIA has already arrested nine people; among them are three doctors Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Pretty, Dr Shaheen Sayeed and religious preacher Maulvi Irfan.

Two others, Amir Rashid Ali and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, were also arrested.

On December 18, the NIA arrested the ninth accused in the case, Yasir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir and alleged close friend of Umar-un-Nabi. The agency alleged that Dar, an active participant in the conspiracy, had sworn to conduct sacrifice operations.

Umar-un-Nabi was driving an explosives-laden i20 car that exploded outside the Red Fort on November 10.
