Jimmy Kimmel gets emotional thanking viewers after especially ‘hard year’

Later in the night, host Jimmy Kimmel got emotional during his end-of-year thank you message to viewers, expressing gratitude for helping him get through a particularly “tough year.”
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” In the last part of the year of the program. On Thursday, the presenter thanked fans for their support during what he described as “a prolonged psychotic episode that we are in the middle of.”
Kimmel told the audience: “It’s been a tough year. We’ve had some lows. Maybe more for me than any year of my life, but we’ve had some highs for all of us, I’m crying already, I’m sorry. But on behalf of all of us here on our show, I just want to say that we appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, not just to watch.” “You literally dug us out of a hole this year and we can’t thank you enough personally and professionally…”

Kimmel acknowledged that there are “much harder jobs” than hosting late night, but admitted that “it’s not an easy job to do” and that sometimes it “feels like we’re spinning our wheels.”
“You see so many horrific and destructive acts, we knowingly inflict all this harm on ourselves, and trying to wrap your head around things that are so obviously wrong can make you feel crazy,” he said. “You know, you grow up reading ‘Superman’ and you learn the value of truth and justice and the American way, and then you start to realize, especially over the last year, you don’t know where this is all going.”
“You don’t even know what the American way is anymore,” Kimmel added.

Despite the feeling that America has lost its way, Kimmel said he’s heard from people who say his show and his “friends and colleagues” at other networks “make them feel less crazy, make me feel less crazy.”
Wrapping up his year-end message, Kimmel appeared to rebuke President Donald Trump with his comment about the country’s “prolonged psychotic episode.” The presenter added that he knows many of his fans are “not happy with what’s going on” in the country right now.
“There is still more good than evil in this country, and we hope you will bear with us through this prolonged period of psychosis we are in the midst of. And whatever holiday you celebrate, we wish you a happy holiday, even if it is none of the above,” he told his audience.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Kimmel and Trump appeared on ABC and its parent Disney’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” He was locked in a feud that lasted for months after he temporarily pulled out of his show. It was taken off the air in September. The host faced backlash after suggesting that Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was a Trump supporter.
Kimmel returned to the air the following week and said he never intended to make light of anyone’s death or give the wrong impression.
On his show last month, Kimmel claimed that Trump “tried to get me fired in September.” He joked that he admired the president’s “determination” in removing him from office.
