‘I’m a bit happily sad today…’

On Saturday, the late actor’s elder son Sunny Deol shared a BTS video from ‘Ikkis’ on his Instagram account.
Late actor Dharmendra, who will be seen posthumously in the upcoming film ‘Ikkis’, once said that he wished that the people of both India and Pakistan would watch the film.
On Saturday, the late actor’s elder son Sunny Deol shared a BTS video from ‘Ikkis’ on his Instagram account. In the video, Dharmendra said, “I am extremely happy to be a part of Mandav films. The crew, the captain, Shriram ji. It has been done beautifully.”
He also said, “I think India and Pakistan should watch the movie. Today, on the last day of shooting, I am a little happy and sad. I love you all, please forgive me if I have done anything wrong.”
Sunny wrote in her caption: “A smile that lights up the darkness. Unlimited generosity. Our love for my father is deeply rooted in our hearts. He blessed us with his last movie Ikkis. Let’s celebrate him in cinema halls this new year.”
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, ‘Ikkis’ is based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardees, who was martyred during the 1971 Indo-Pak war at the age of 21.
The title directly refers to Khetarpal’s age at the time of his death. The lead role is played by Agastya Nanda, marking a significant departure from traditional primaries as the film prioritizes realism over spectacle. Veteran actor Dharmendra appears in a key role and adds generational weight to the narrative.
Rather than melodrama, the film focuses on military discipline, battlefield decision-making, and personal courage. Staying true to historical narratives, the film aims to portray the human cost of war while honoring a real-life hero whose bravery continues to have national significance.
