Media shouts hate as community offers care

In the wake of the anti-Semitic Bondi murders, it has rarely been more heartbreaking to watch the disconnect between our media and its established expert class on the one hand, and society’s response to tragedy on the other. In the first it is all anger, blame and guilt. In the second, there is compassion, care and solidarity.

It’s all part of the legacy media’s growing desperation to keep up with social media algorithms that continue to fuel culture wars that amplify hate crimes and contribute to the current truth crisis.
