Alphabet to acquire data center and energy infrastructure company Intersect

google parent Alphabet on Monday announced It will acquire data center and energy infrastructure company Intersect for $4.75 billion in cash, in addition to assuming debt.

Alphabet said Intersect’s operations will remain independent, but the acquisition will help bring more data centers and manufacturing capacity online faster.

“Intersect will help us increase capacity, work more nimbly to create new energy generation compatible with new data center load, and reimagine energy solutions that will support U.S. innovation and leadership,” Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in a statement.

Alphabet said Intersect’s operating and development assets in California and existing operating assets in Texas are not part of the acquisition.

The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026 but is still subject to customary closing conditions.
