Road rage driver who hurled abuse at female motorist now jailed after another tirade

A road rage driver who previously shouted abusive language at a lone female motorist has now been jailed following another incident of verbal abuse.

Peter Abbott, 62, was serving a suspended sentence when he was involved in a new incident at Bournemouth’s Alum Chine Beach on December 3, 2024, the Courts and Tribunals Service Center (CTSC) said. Independent.

During the incident at the beach, again targeting a woman, he used threatening or insulting words or behavior with the intention of creating fear or inciting unlawful violence.

He was sentenced to six weeks in prison and also fined £85 at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, December 18, the CTSC confirmed.

Abbott was previously given a suspended prison sentence in May 2024 for threatening and using abusive language towards Samantha Isaacs during the incident outside a Tesco petrol station in Bournemouth on 25 August 2023.

After beeping at him for a minor incident, he got out of his vehicle and hit the windshield with his fists before launching into his abusive tirade.

He shouted at her, “Can you see me you fucking slut?” He then called her a ‘s***’ and a ‘w****’ and pressed her head against the windshield.

Another driver intervened and called Abbott a bully, telling her: “What’s the matter with you, she’s a woman on her own.” “He’s making fun of a very annoying woman,” said Abbott. he replied.

Following a hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court, he was convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior towards her and “constantly intimidating” her while driving.

District Judge Orla Austin sentenced Abbott to 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and disqualified him from driving for 18 months.

He was also ordered to spend 20 rehabilitation days, complete an anger management course and pay Miss Isaacs £300 compensation and £300 court costs.

Having breached this suspended sentence, Abbott has now been jailed.
