Rob and Michele Reiner’s children announce memorial service for murdered parents
- A spokesperson said they would share details of the service ‘at a later date’
Director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele’s children thanked people for their continued support and announced a memorial service for their slain parents.
A spokesperson for the Hollywood couple’s children Jake and Romy told the Daily Mail: ‘Jake and Romy Reiner continue to be grateful for the love and support they have received.
‘They will share information about a memorial service in honor of their parents at a later date.’
The Reiners were found dead in bed at their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on Sunday afternoon, December 14. Their son Nick, 32, was arrested hours later and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
The murder suspect suffers from schizophrenia and has been to rehabilitation at least 17 times. In recent years, he lived in his family’s guest house.
Romy, 27, tragically discovered her parents had been murdered around 3.30pm on December 14th. The roommate reportedly called 911, who reached her father’s longtime friend, actor Billy Crystal, who lived nearby.

The tribute announcement came as a source close to the family criticized online trolls who suggested the late couple were not supportive enough of Nick.
An insider told the Daily Mail that those who knew the couple were devastated by accusations that they did not help or love their son, who had serious addiction problems and went through periods of homelessness before killing his parents.
Friends defended the couple after conservative influencer Megyn Kelly launched controversial attacks on the iconic director, who is also known for his anti-Trump beliefs.
Kelly claimed the gruesome murders at the Reiners’ $13 million mansion ‘could involve parents focusing on the wrong thing, such as a career, rather than their children’.
‘Any reports suggesting that Rob and Michele do not love all of their children are completely false. They are devoted to all their children and do everything they can to support them, a source close to the family told the Daily Mail.
Sources previously told TMZ that Nick’s schizophrenia worsened after doctors changed his psychological medications in the weeks before the alleged murders.
Nick has reportedly become ‘erratic and dangerous’ due to medication adjustments, insiders claim.

According to the publication, Nick’s behavior had become ‘alarming’ and he was checking into a rehab facility in Los Angeles that specialized in substance abuse, charging a staggering $70,000 a month.
On Saturday night, December 13, Rob and Michele took Nick to a star-studded holiday party held at comedian Conan O’Brien’s mansion in Los Angeles. Reiners reportedly wanted to ‘keep an eye on’ Nick.
But guests at the A-list party have since said Nick displayed ‘antisocial behaviour’, including staring at attendees and constantly asking if people were famous.
An outburst ensued when she and Rob reportedly argued loudly, after which Reiners left.
Nick allegedly killed them hours later.
