Libya’s Army Chief, Four Others Killed In Air Crash In Turkey | World News

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said Libyan Chief of General Staff Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad and four others died in an air crash near the Turkish capital Ankara.
According to Al Jazeera, Prime Minister Dbeibah described the incident as a “tragic accident” and stated that the accident occurred on Tuesday, when officials were returning from their visit to Türkiye.
The statement said, “This great tragedy is a great loss for our nation, our military organization and the entire people, as we lost our people who served their country with sincerity and devotion and were examples of discipline, responsibility and national loyalty.” he said.

He said the other people killed in the accident were land forces chief of staff Al-Fitouri Gharibil, Military Production Authority director Mahmoud Al-Qatawi, al-Haddad’s advisor Muhammad Al-Asawi Diab and military photographer Muhammad Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
A senior Turkish official stated that all three crew members lost their lives in the accident and said that the plane made an emergency landing upon being reported an electrical fault, according to Al Jazeera.
Presidential Directorate of Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, in his statement to the X channel, said, “Libya Chief of General Staff Muhammed al-Haddad, the private jet carrying four people and three crew members with him, requested an emergency landing at the air traffic control center due to a power outage.” he said.
A Turkish official told Al Jazeera: “Initial reports from the investigation rule out any sabotage of the plane crash belonging to the Libyan Chief of General Staff; the primary cause is technical malfunction.”
