Karnataka accident: PM Modi announces ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kin of deceased

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the victims of a road accident in Karnataka’s Chitradurga and announced a gift of Rs 2 lakh to the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

At least nine people were killed when a bus caught fire after being hit by a speeding truck in Chitradurga district in the early hours of Thursday. According to the police, there were 32 passengers on the bus and most of them were burned alive.

“We are deeply saddened by those who lost their lives in the accident that occurred in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. We express our condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May those who were injured recover as soon as possible.
