Bangladesh Violent Turmoil: It is reported that atrocities against Hindus have increased in Bangladesh and extreme violence continues unabated. Critics claim that such attacks occur under the tacit protection of the Mohammed Younis administration, and that non-Muslim communities are increasingly targeted. After the murder of Deepu Chandra Das, another Hindu was reportedly brutally murdered. The last victim was identified as Amrit Mandal.

Who is Amrit Mandal?

Amrit Mandal, also known as Samrat, was a 29-year-old Hindu man and the son of Akshay Mandal. The attack took place in the Rajbari area around 11:00 on Thursday.

He was attacked under the pretext of extortion

Local extremists first accused Amrit Mandal of extortion, police said. A crowd surrounded him and when he tried to escape they caught him and beat him so severely that he died. Authorities launched an investigation to catch those responsible.

Second Lynching in a Week

This is the second incident of a Hindu being killed by extremists in Bangladesh this week. On December 18, factory worker Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by a gang in Mymensingh district. He was falsely accused of making derogatory remarks against Islam. It was reported that after the murder, his body was hanged from a tree and set on fire.

Increasing Violence After Hadi’s Death

A wave of violence has gripped Bangladesh since Muhammad Yunus came to power. Tensions escalated sharply two weeks ago following the killing of Islamic extremist leader Shariq Usman Hadi, which led to protests blaming India.
