BBCSinger Noddy Holder avoids going to restaurants on Christmas Day because his famous holiday song is played too often, his wife said.
Suzan Holder said it would be “a bit weird” if she and the Walsall-born rocker sang Slade’s hit Merry Xmas Everyone while dining out.
“The Christmas carol will be played and everyone in the restaurant will turn and look,” he told BBC Radio WM.
The track was originally released by Wolverhampton band in December 1973, but re-entered the UK singles chart before Christmas, becoming a mainstay of festive playlists.
Mrs. Holder said her husband often woke her up on Christmas mornings by singing the famous “It’s Christmas” line from the song.
“I think people think he does this every day, but I’m just talking about Christmas morning,” he added.
“As the person who coined the phrase, I think it’s perfectly acceptable.”
Ms Holder said her festive traditions included preparing a “pretty bad Christmas dinner” and that her roast potatoes “had to be eaten to be believed”.

Holder, who now lives in Cheshire, stood by Slade for 26 years until he resigned in 1992.
They are often cited as among the most successful British bands of the 1970s, with other hit singles such as Cum On Feel The Noize and Coz I Luv You.
Holder, 79, was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2018 and was initially given six months to live but recovered following care at Christie hospital in Manchester.
Last December, the singer announced that he had started performing again and had been playing with a 10-piece boogie jazz band since his recovery.
