Kenya president plans huge church at official residence

Kenya President William Ruto plans to build a church at his own expense on the grounds of his official residence and causes astonishment in the country.
Criticism stems from the fact that the Kenya Constitution requires the separation of the church and the state.
According to media reports, Ruto’s place of worship is expected to host up to 8000 people.
At a meeting with local politicians, Ruto confirmed his construction plans and rejected the criticism by stating that he would pay his own pocket for construction.
Reports show that the church can cost 1.2 billion Kenya Chile (A14.2 million).
Describing himself as a religious Christian, Ruto did not give any details about construction costs.
The project had an important criticism on social media, many of them point to the situation of schools and hospitals.
Since the Kenya Constitution does not provide a state religion, and the country has multi -religious, various Christian sects, a little more than 10 percent of the Muslim population and a large Hindu minority and other critics have constitutional concerns.
It is also controversial whether the construction will benefit Ruto with the presidential elections in Kenya within two years.
