Vodafone Idea Begins 5G Network Roll-out In Additional Cities

New Delhi: Vodafone Idea (Vi), India’s third largest telecom service provider, said on Friday that it has begun the next phase of rolling out its fifth-generation (5G) network to other cities in India while strengthening its 4G capacity. Vi’s 5G services are currently available in 29 cities in the country. The company also outlined its network expansion roadmap, service innovations and customer-first priorities as we move into 2026.

In his New Year message, Vi CEO Abhijit Kishore emphasized that the company is continuing to invest in strengthening network infrastructure across India. “Vi has added a significant number of new towers across the country to enhance coverage, capacity and overall network for stronger connectivity and superior network experience,” Kishore said in a letter. said Kishore, adding that the company is strengthening the digital services ecosystem through strategic partnerships in travel, Internet of Things (IoT), fintech, MSME uplift and future-ready connectivity solutions.

“Vi has launched 5G in 29 cities and now continues to leverage our AI-based, self-optimizing 4G network as we launch the next phase of expansion to bring 5G to many more cities across the country. The telco launched 5G network commercially in March this year, first in metros like Mumbai and Delhi, and gradually scaled up to 29 cities across 17 priority circles,” Kishore said.

Vi also highlighted the launch of its industry-first International call display and call sign presentation (CNAP), which allows users to see the names of Vi callers even if they are not registered in the contact list, a move aimed at improving call transparency and trust. “With your needs at the heart of everything we do, we continue to focus on innovation and enrich our service portfolio with many new and improved offerings throughout the year,” he said.
