Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass laments the historic number of Latinos joining the Border Patrol.

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room” on Friday, Blitzer asked Bass: “But first let me get your reaction to the report we just heard from David Culver. What did you think?”

“In a way, I think it’s sad,” Bass responded. “I think Border Patrol agents are going to have a tough time when they go out into the field and they see what’s actually going on in the real world separate from their training, but I understand their primary motivation is financial. I think it’s just about the financial situation that millions of Americans find themselves in. And I’m certainly concerned about this report.”

Earlier in the program, Culver spoke with new Border Patrol agents and produced a special report on “The Situation Room.”
