Man dead, two police hurt in North Carolina shooting

A man has died after opening fire on police during a child custody exchange in suburban Charlotte, North Carolina.
In the statement made by the police on social media, it was stated that two police officers were injured in the attack in Mint Hill.
Authorities said officers were called to the Edible Arrangement store before the man pulled out a gun and began shooting and officers fired back.
Police announced that he died as a result of gunfire.
Manager Kevin Phayme told reporters at the scene that employees of nearby Empire Pizza were taking a break and saw two officers enter the store, then one leading the other out with blood on their hands and face.
Police initially said the officers were in critical condition and updated their condition to stable a few hours later. They said more information about the attack would be released later.
Crime scene technicians were seen on television footage taking photos inside the store and examining evidence outside.
Mint Hill is a suburb of approximately 27,000 people 12 miles east of Charlotte.
