Trump Says Zelensky ‘Has Nothing Until I Approve It’ Ahead Of Florida Peace Talks | World News

US President Donald Trump said Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky “has nothing until I approve it” ahead of a high-level meeting between the two leaders aimed at discussing a proposed peace framework to end the nearly four-year Russia-Ukraine war.

In an interview with Politico, Trump stated that two days before the scheduled meeting with Zelensky in Florida, both sides are expected to negotiate a draft 20-point peace plan. According to Xinhua, the proposal includes the creation of a demilitarized zone, regulations on the management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, territorial issues related to the Donbas region, and potential US security guarantees once the conflict ends.

Zelensky confirmed on Friday that security assurances for Ukraine would be the main focus of his talks with Trump. Speaking to journalists, he said that the meeting will take place in Florida on Sunday, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

The Ukrainian President said that Kiev also plans to raise questions regarding territorial control and the future of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility. He added that the peace proposal is about 90 percent complete, with several draft documents on security guarantees already ready.

Zelensky noted that the framework covers four parties: Ukraine, the USA, Russia and Europe, and emphasized that it could not be finalized without the participation of both Moscow and European partners.

“We agreed with President Trump to hold a meeting at the highest level in the near future,” Zelensky had previously written on Telegram, following his talks with Rustem Umerov, head of Ukraine’s negotiating team with the United States.

He also said “a lot of things” could be decided before the New Year.

The developments follow three days of discussions in Miami last week involving officials from the United States, Ukraine and European countries, focused on finding a way to resolve the conflict.
