Heartbreaking tragedy as little girl, two, dies after falling into pond during family gathering on Christmas Day

A two-year-old girl, who got lost during a family gathering on Christmas Day, died by falling into a pond in the garden.
The little girl, named Isobel, is said to have wandered into her parents’ garden in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, while playing with family gifts on December 25.
The boy’s aunt said the little girl was ‘surrounded’ by her family but managed to escape before reaching a fenced pond, just seconds before they realized she was gone.
The family desperately performed CPR on Isobel before emergency services arrived and she was taken to hospital, but tragically passed away.
Isobel’s mother Tamara Wallace posted a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter on social media today, describing her toddler as a ‘talented’ and ‘magical girl’.
‘Everyone who knows Isobel and us knows how talented she is and that she has lived longer in her two years than some children do in a lifetime,’ the mother wrote.
‘We also want people to remember Isobel not for her sad death, but for the magical girl, the adventure and fire in her soul and the light she brought.’
He added: ‘We will raise her little sister the same way and she will know that she has a sister and that she is and will continue to be amazing.

‘Isobel my sweet sweet girl, our hearts burst with love for you, this is never goodbye because we know you’re near, your mom and dad will see you soon.’
Isobel’s aunt, Abigail Maxwell, is a GoFundMe helping the family cover funeral expenses and consulting costs.
Ms Maxwell described the family opening presents and playing with toys, recalling the tragic events that led to her nephew’s death on Christmas Day.
‘It was Christmas, we were celebrating as a family. “Our daughters, who are best friends, were surrounded by everyone playing with their new toys in the living room, kitchen and playroom,” she wrote.
‘We couldn’t find him for a while and that’s when he went into the garden and fell into the pond.’
Miss Maxwell said Isobel’s parents had recently bought a new house with a pond in the garden and were planning to turn it into their dream family home.
‘A pond that is there not by choice but because of a house move is their forever home that they have renovated,’ he wrote.
The family desperately performed CPR on Isobel before emergency services arrived and Isobel was taken to hospital, but tragically she died.
‘A pond surrounded by a temporary fence, in a garden that he could never reach on his own. ‘A tragic accident.’
Ms Maxwell added: ‘We performed CPR until the ambulances arrived and he was taken to hospital but unfortunately he could not be saved. My brother and Tamara’s little daughter. I am a very loved grandson. Our baby is our nephew. My little daughter’s best friend.
‘There are no words and no one deserves this and anyone who knows them will agree, especially them.’
The family also plans to create a ‘memorial fairy garden’ for Isobel. The fundraiser has so far raised more than £15,000 for the family.
The Daily Mail has contacted police and ambulance services for comment.
