Donald Trump’s right hand man warns UK could be ‘security risk’ | UK | News

Britain could become a security threat to America if “Islamist-leaning” politicians come to power, the US Vice President has claimed. JD Vance’s comments follow the publication of the new US National Security Strategy, which warns of the “erasure of civilization” in Europe.

The American politician has already ruffled feathers across the continent with his provocative speech at this year’s Munich Security Conference. In a fiery performance, the Ohio senator lectured European leaders on the erosion of democracy and free speech. He claimed to have heard from the audience that attacks on freedom of expression were the biggest security threat to Europe and the world.

The Vice President then criticized specific examples of alleged censorship across Europe, including raids in Germany, arrests in the United Kingdom, and the EU’s social media restrictions.

His speech was strongly condemned by many from Europe’s established political parties. Vance shrugged off the political criticism and went on the offensive once again.

In an interview with a British publication UnheardThe Deputy President suggested that Britain could fall into the hands of pro-Islamic politicians.

He claimed that such a scenario would pose a serious security threat to America, given that Britain is a nuclear power.

He noted that already “individuals who are aligned with Islamists or neighbors with Islamists” have been elected to public office.

The Vice President said that these people won the mayoral and municipal elections and that it was not inconceivable that they would also prevail in the national elections.

“But it is not unthinkable to imagine a scenario in which a person with views close to Islamist views could have a very significant influence on Europe’s nuclear power,” Mr. Vance said.

“In the next five years? No. But 15 years from now? Absolutely. And that’s a very direct threat to the United States.”

Vance caused further outrage when he met with the leader of Germany’s far-right party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), at the Munich Security Conference just weeks before the federal election.

He reportedly discussed the war in Ukraine, German domestic politics, and Brandmauer, aka the “firewall against the right,” with Alice Weidel.
