Police hunt launched after ‘man in his 30s is attacked in Christmas Day rape’

Police have appealed for urgent information after a man in his 30s was allegedly raped on Christmas Day.

The victim was near Brook Street near Pells Pool in Lewes, East Sussex, when the attack was reported to have occurred.

It was stated that the incident occurred between 22:00 on Christmas Eve and 03:00 on Christmas Day.

Specialist officers and care professionals are supporting the victim as investigations continue.

Sussex Police are now appealing for information from members of the public who were in the area on Christmas Eve evening or for any footage of them in the area.

Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said: ‘Following the launch of this investigation, we would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team continues to work diligently to investigate all available investigative channels.

‘As part of this work, a police presence can be expected in other areas of Lewes, including the Pells Pool and Brook Street areas, as well as Eastgate Street and Lansdown Place.

‘Members of the public can also play a vital role in helping us build a clearer picture of events, whether they are local residents or visiting the area.

‘Are there any images from the area or any information that might be helpful?
