Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled arrival in Guwahati on Sunday, December 28, 2025, for a two-day visit to Assam has been postponed by a day as his flight was canceled due to dense fog, officials said.

They said he would reach GUwahati on Monday morning for a one-day visit.

Mr Shah was initially scheduled to reach Guwahati late on Sunday and spend the night at the Government guesthouse in Koinadhara district.

They said no program was specified for Sunday.

One of the officials said that the program schedule remained unchanged except for the night break.

“The Shah’s arrival was postponed for a day because his flight was canceled due to heavy fog. He will arrive here on Monday morning,” he said.

On Monday, he will pay tribute to the martyrs of the Assam movement, a protest against illegal foreigners, at the newly constructed ‘Swahid Smarak Kshetra’ here.

Mr. Shah will then travel to Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankardeva, at Borduwa in Nagaon district, where he will inaugurate the redevelopment project of the spiritual place, officials said.

They said the Home Minister was scheduled to address a public rally in Borduwa after the inauguration.

Mr. Shah will return to Guwahati, where he will inaugurate a new police force building and integrated command and control system (ICCS) to strengthen the security of the city.

Mr. Shah’s last program of the day will be the inauguration of Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, a 5,000-seat capacity auditorium in Guwahati.
