Helicopter Collision: In a tragic accident, two helicopters collided mid-air in southern New Jersey on Sunday (local time), killing one person and injuring another. Authorities then took action and launched a large-scale investigation into the cause of the accident. The incident occurred late in the morning near Hammonton Municipal Airport, where two Enstrom helicopters were flying at the time.
Citing the Federal Aviation Administration, ANI reported that the Enstrom F-28A and Enstrom 280C aircraft “collided in mid-air” around 11:25 am.
When the unfortunate accident occurred, only the pilots were in the helicopter. The helicopters then landed in an open field in Hammonton.

Emergency responders rushed to the crash scene and transported both victims by plane to a nearby trauma center, CNN reported, citing Hammonton Fire Chief Sean Macri, news agency ANI reported.
Macri also reported that one of the pilots was in critical condition during the rescue efforts. Meanwhile, one of the victims was suffering from a “possible heart attack” when he was transported by ambulance.
Authorities confirmed that one person died in the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it opened a formal investigation and sent an investigator to the crash scene.
The agency said it will examine many factors, including flight tracking data, aircraft maintenance history, air traffic control communications and witness statements.
“Once the wreckage of both helicopters is documented, they will be transported to a secure facility for further evaluation,” the NTSB said.
New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker said his office was in contact with federal investigators and was seeking more details about the incident.
