Urgent appeal issued after British doctor disappears in iconic Spanish holiday hotspot | World | News

A new appeal has been launched to help search for a British doctor who disappeared in southern Spain two months ago. Ruaridh (“Rory”) Tanner, aged in his 30s and originally from Harrow, London, was last seen on 7 October in Nerja, east of Málaga, the Costa del Sol’s most populous city.
Mr. Tanner has brown hair and two prominent tattoos; she has a caduceus staff on the back of her left arm and a dog on her left calf. However, other descriptive details vary among missing organizations. SOS Desaparecidos lists Tanner as 37 years old and approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, while Erican Rescate describes him as 33 years old and approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. Mr Tanner is believed to have disappeared with his silver Volkswagen Polo car, registration number LN64 XDT.
His brother Rufus, who has repeatedly used social media to appeal, believes his brother may have gone to Valencia and been living in his car.
“As his family, we want to know that he is safe, we want to tell him we love him and we want him to contact us. Thank you so much for your help,” he wrote in his Facebook post.
Spanish authorities have expanded the search beyond the southern European country and raised international warnings that Mr Tanner may have returned to Britain.
Anyone with information is asked to call the emergency number 112, the Guardia Civil on 061, the National Police on 091, SOS Desaparecidos on +34 868 286 726 or Erican Rescate ONG on +34 607 118 375.
Nerja is a popular traditional Spanish resort town on the Costa del Sol, famous for its spectacular Balcón de Europa viewpoint, beaches such as Burriana and the impressive Cueva de Nerja caves. With approximately 300 days of sunshine a year and mild winters, it is an ideal destination for visits throughout the year.
Located on the eastern Costa del Sol, approximately 70 kilometers from Málaga Airport (AGP), it makes an excellent base for exploring the wider Andalusia region, with Málaga, Granada and the city of Ronda within driving distance.
The call comes just weeks after the body believed to be that of a missing British woman was found hidden under vegetation on a highway in southern Spain. A massive air and land search has been launched for 73-year-old Geraldine Ann, who disappeared from her home in Chirivel, near Granada, on 17 September.
