Prime Minister Modi expressed his concerns in his post on social media platform X and stated that “diplomatic efforts” are the most appropriate way to end hostilities.
The Prime Minister said, “We are deeply concerned by reports that the residence of the President of the Russian Federation has been targeted. Ongoing diplomatic efforts offer the optimal path to ending hostilities and achieving peace. We call on all concerned to focus on these efforts and avoid any actions that could undermine them.”

What are Russia’s claims?
Lavrov claimed that the Kiev regime launched an attack on the Presidential residence using “91 long-range attack aircraft”.
Lavrov said, “On the night of December 28-29, the Kiev regime carried out a terrorist attack on the state residence of the President of the Russian Federation using 91 long-range attack aircraft.” he said.
IANS, citing Xinhua news agency, quoted Lavrov as saying that all incoming UAVs were shot down by Russian Armed Forces’ air defense systems, adding that there were no reports of any casualties or damage from the UAV wreckage.
Ukraine Denies Drone Attack Allegations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday denied allegations of the attack, calling it “another lie from the Russian Federation.”
On Monday, Zelensky denied the accusation of attack and said such claims were intended to justify Russian attacks on Ukraine, including attacks on the capital, and Russia’s refusal to take necessary steps to end the crisis.
“They’re probably setting the stage for an attack on the capital and possibly government buildings,” he said.
“This alleged ‘residence strike’ story is completely fabricated,” Zelensky said.
According to IANS, he stressed that Ukraine had not taken steps to undermine diplomatic efforts but that Russia “always takes such steps”.
ANI, citing Politico, reported that the drone strike allegations came after Zelenskyy said that the current draft peace framework includes a 15-year security guarantee from the US and that Kiev is pushing for this guarantee to be extended to 50 years.
