HHS freezes child care payments to Minnesota amid fraud probe

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday it will freeze all child care payments to Minnesota following an investigation into alleged fraud involving child care centers across the state.

“You have probably read serious allegations that the state of Minnesota has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to fraudulent day care facilities across Minnesota over the past decade,” HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill wrote in X.
