Waitrose customers have been urgently warned about a potentially dangerous drink they may have purchased. The Food Standards Agency announced that Waitrose has withdrawn Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water and Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water from shelves “due to the possibility of glass fragments being formed when the bottles are opened”.

The recall affects 750ml bottles of Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water with the following batch codes: NOVEMBER 2027 28. DECEMBER 2027 01. DECEMBER 2027 02. DECEMBER 2027 10. DECEMBER 2027 11. DECEMBER 2027 16.

Products with expiration dates of November 2027 and December 2027 are part of the recall. Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water products are also sold in 750ml bottles.

Affected batch codes include: DEC 2027 01. DEC 2027 03. DEC 2027 12. DEC 2027 15. DEC 2027 25.

Bottles showing an expiration date of December 2027 will be affected.

The FSA warned: “The product may contain glass which may cause injury and make it unsafe to drink. Waitrose is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling this product. These notices will explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they purchase the products.”

“If you have purchased any of the above products, do not drink them. Instead, return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund. For more information, contact: Waitrose Customer Services 0800 188 884 Option 4.”

About product recalls and recalls

The FSA clarified: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, it may be ‘recalled’ (removed from shelves) or ‘withdrawn’ (where customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to ensure consumers and local authorities are aware of food-related issues. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific actions to be taken on behalf of consumers.”
