Waitrose issues ‘do not drink’ warning over bottled water glass shard risk

Waitrose has recalled some of its bottled water over concerns it may contain broken glass.

In a warning shared by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on December 31, the supermarket said Deeside water could be at risk of “possible glass fragments being found when bottles are opened”.

Customers have been urged not to drink bottled water, warning that drinking it could cause injury and make it unsafe to drink.

Both sparkling water and sparkling water from the No1 Deeside range have been recalled and Waitrose has asked customers to return the bottles to their nearest store for a refund.

“We are recalling the above lines due to potential glass contamination,” a recall notice reads. In addition, buyers are advised not to drink the water, but to package it and return it to the store.

It comes after Tesco recalled a festive sweet treat due to a potential health risk for people with allergies.
