Waitrose urges customers not to drink Deeside water over shards of glass risk | Waitrose

Waitrose customers are being asked to turn away and not drink large bottles of Deeside mineral water amid concerns it may contain shards of glass.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a consumer warning about still and sparkling 750ml bottles of Waitrose No 1 Deeside mineral water due to the possibility of glass fragments making it unsafe to drink.
Potentially contaminated mineral water bottled exclusively for Waitrose from a spring near Balmoral Castle in Scotland’s Cairngorms national park costs around £1.60 in store.
The supermarket removed the bottles from its shelves and customers who had already purchased them were asked to call the retailer or return the item in person to get their money back.
“If you have purchased any of the above products, do not drink them. Instead, return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund,” the FSA said.
While the FSA and Waitrose did not provide an estimate of how many Deeside waters might be affected, they asked customers to note the batch codes on the bottles.
For still mineral water, these included: NOV2027 28, DEC2027 01, DEC2027 02, DEC2027 10, DEC2027 11 and DEC2027 16.
For carbonated mineral water, potentially contaminated bottles will be marked as follows: DEC2027 01, DEC2027 03, DEC2027 12, DEC2027 15 and DEC2027 25.
Waitrose also warned customers to call its customer service line for more information. In the statement made by the supermarket, it was said: “We apologize for having to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Earlier this month, Waitrose Remember the Santa-themed drink bottle “for safety reasons”, In October, it was forced to withdraw its plant-based fake meat product from the market, which contained undeclared ingredients such as wheat gluten and soy.
Broken glass also led to the recall of the FSA Bottles of spirits under the brand Disaronno Originale At the beginning of December.
