Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson’s latest movie upset those close to its real-life subject.
In their new film, “Song Sung Blue,” Hudson and Jackman play real-life couple Claire “Thunder” and Mike “Lightning” Sardina, who together form the Neil Diamond tribute band “Lightning & Thunder.”
During a recent interview Daily MailMike’s children are Michael Sardina Jr. and Angelina voiced their many issues with the film, including the fact that they only received $30,000 to consult on the film and Mike Jr.’s claim that he was “intentionally omitted from the film.”
“My existence is never even mentioned in any of the interviews these monsters do on national television, even though I’m the dominant force in my father’s life even when I’m not in Wisconsin because I’m his only son,” he said of Jackman and Hudson.

Although he did not appear in the film, he appeared in the 2008 documentary “Lighting & Thunder”, which told the story of his father’s legacy. The documentary was released two years after his father died in July 2006 after suffering a brain hemorrhage resulting from a fall.
Text messages obtained by the Daily Mail between Mike Jr.’s sister Angelina and the film’s producer John Fox confirmed that the two were paid $30,000 to consult, and Fox also sympathized with Angelina for their lack of information, saying, “I completely understand and I’m sorry, I know this isn’t the most ideal situation.”
Angelina appears in the film, portrayed by the King Princess, and according to the Daily Mail, Angelina signed a contract allowing the film to tell a fictionalized version of her story, but she did not make sure she would communicate with any of the cast, including the King Princess.
They both had issues with the way their father was portrayed; Mike Jr. said that if someone had talked to them about their father, they would have known that he would “talk very, very slowly.”

“[My father] “At every show he would thank God and then give a very brief statement about his healing journey,” he recalled. “And if anyone ever felt like they were alone or maybe needed help or needed prayer, [he would tell them]”‘Come here after the show and I’ll sit here and talk to you.'”
Mike Jr. and Angelina say that in addition to not contributing anything to the story, the film didn’t do a good job of showing the tension that existed in their home growing up. Angelina says, “The only thing that was right was the love between my father and Claire.”
“So yeah, it’s a great story,” he said. “It’s a nice story, but it didn’t turn out that way. I guess that’s the sad thing, because it’s a lie.”

The trio happily posed with Jackman and Hudson at the New York City premiere in early December; both Carol and Rachel joined Jackman on stage to sing on different occasions.
Mike Jr. and Angelina were also invited to the premiere, but according to Mike Jr., they were told to “stay away from the stars and reporters.”
“I want the real story to come out, and I want it to be used with truth, with dignity, and I want revenge,” Mike Jr. said. “I want revenge on NBCUniversal [and other parties involved]not just for me, but for my father, for me, and for my little sister; My father’s real grandchildren because they destroyed us.”
“Everyone thinks it’s a great movie, it’s very touching,” he added. “It’s all lies. And Claire is stealing my father’s life’s work so that Rachel and Dayna can collect a big paycheck.”
