Urgent hunt under way for woman in her 20s who gave birth in London hospital – then vanished leaving her newborn behind

An urgent search has been launched for a woman who left hospital shortly after giving birth in Romford.
Officers were called at around 5pm yesterday to reports that the mother, aged in her 20s, had disappeared.
It was learned that the baby was kept under the supervision of staff at the east London hospital and was in good health.
The mother had a slim build, dark hair and was last seen wearing a light-coloured top and patterned skirt.
Police stated that they were concerned about the woman’s health and asked anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who can help is asked to call 101 quoting reference CAD3892/30Dec.
Detective Inspector Neil Godwin, who led the Met’s investigation, said: ‘This woman has just given birth and is therefore extremely vulnerable.
‘This is not a criminal investigation; We need to locate him to make sure he’s okay.
‘If you know where this woman is or have any information about this it is extremely important that you tell us so we can ensure she receives the right support.’
