Two men charged after pensioner killed in hit-and-run

Two men have been charged after a pedestrian in his 80s died after being hit by a car and carried for about a mile.

The incident happened at around 12.10pm on Monday, December 29, and the victim is believed to have been hit by a gray Mercedes Estate on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham, Kent.

The man was found on Grange Road in the town of Medway, almost a mile or more from where he was likely shot.

The vehicle was found nearby and the two people inside fled on foot, police said.

On Friday morning Kent Police said Albert Matraxhiu, 28, of Orange Hill Road in Edgware, north London, had been charged with death by dangerous driving.

Erald Paci, 29, of Five Way Court, Chatham, Kent, was charged with perverting the course of justice.

Both men are Albanian citizens and will appear in court on Friday, police said.
