In one of the biggest casting coups in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji are all set to team up for the first time for Oh My God 3, the third film in the social comedy drama series. In fact, Akshay had appeared in the first two films as well – Oh My God – Oh My God! and its spiritual sequel, OMG 2, were released in 2012 and 2023 respectively.
A source close to the development was quoted as telling Pinkvilla, “This is definitely one of the biggest casts in recent years. Oh My God is among Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises and it gets even bigger with Rani Mukerji joining the film. Her presence will add tremendous weight and freshness to the narrative.”
While Umesh Shukla directed the first part, Amit Rai directed the sequel and will take the series forward with three films. The Oh My God series has carved out a unique space in Indian cinema by seamlessly blending sharp social commentary with mass entertainment. More than a decade later, OMG 2 has raised the bar by tackling the sensitive but important issue of sex education in Indian schools. Directed by an engaging Pankaj Tripathi, starring Yami Gautam in a pivotal role and Akshay returning as the divine messenger of Lord Shiva, the film struck a strong chord with the audience and was a huge box office success.
