China Responds To Trump’s Tariff Threat, Says BRICS Not Seeking Confrontation | World News

New Delhi: On Monday, China responded to the threat of bringing 10% more tariffs to countries that US President Donald Trump defined as “anti -American” policies encouraged by the BRICS group. China stressed that the BRICS alliance did not seek ‘confrontation’ and reiterated its attitude towards trade wars.

According to the media reports, Mao Ning, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, “There is no winner of trade and tariff wars and protectionism is not a solution.” He said.

Beijing’s testimony came after Trump warned about punishing tariffs against countries that Trump called the “anti -American” BRICS policies. The latest threat follows the BRICS 2025 summit in Brazil, condemned by member states’ attacks on US-Israel on Iranian military and nuclear facilities.

In an article on the social media platform, Trump said, “Any country that aligns themselves with anti -American BRICS policies will receive 10% more tariffs. This policy will not be an exception.” However, Trump did not specify what constitutes “anti -American policies ve and which countries could be targeted under the proposed tariff rule.
