According to the London Fire Department, a storage space behind a mixed building is lit.

A spokesman for the fire brigade said: “Electric Boulevard in Brixton was called on the fire and about 70 firefighters.

“A storage behind a mixed building is lit.

“Road closures are in place and people are now asked to avoid the region. People in the local area should also keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke travel. Brixton Underground Station is temporarily closed due to smoke travel.

The Brigade took the first of the 25 calls for the fire in 0941 and the control officers took the crew from the fire stations in Brixton, Peckham, Lambeth, Western Norwood and its surrounding fire stations.

“A 32 -meter pickup ladder also participates and is used as an observation tower that helps the event commander about the fire more situational awareness.

“The cause of the fire is not known right now.”
